Laser Keyboard:

  • Sometimes referred to as the Laser Button Pad or Laser Key Switch, the laser keyboard boasts a surface coated with colorful ink through spraying or screen printing techniques.
  • Its keypad’s legends or backgrounds are intricately formed by laser cutting, allowing for LED backlighting.

Customized Button Pads:

Rubber button pads, crucial components of laser keyboards, are customized using translucent silicone rubber material, available in a myriad of colors to suit individual preferences.

Distinctive Features:

  • Vibrant Surface: The keyboard’s surface is adorned with an array of vibrant colors, enhancing its aesthetic appeal.
  • Backlit Legends: Laser cutting ensures precise formation of keypad legends or backgrounds, enabling LED backlighting for improved visibility.
  • Personalization Options: Rubber button pads offer customization options, allowing users to tailor their keyboards to their unique tastes.

Versatile Applications:

Ideal for various applications, including gaming, typing, and mobile devices, the laser keyboard provides a versatile solution for different user needs.

Material Selection

Choosing the appropriate silicone material is crucial when customizing laser keyboards. Transparent silicone rubber generally outperforms standard translucent silicone in this regard. Opting for transparent silicone ensures a noticeable color contrast between the inner and outer components of the keyboard. For example, if the inner plating is white, selecting a black surface color is often preferable. Conversely, using an inner translucent silicone keypad with a gray or black surface may result in laser-marked characters that are not clearly visible without proper backlighting. Therefore, careful consideration of the silicone material is essential to achieve optimal performance for laser keyboards.

Creating Custom Laser-Etched Keyboards

Designing Process:

Begin by applying a base coat of ink to the keyboard’s surface to determine the desired characters, patterns, or background colors.

Choose the first coat of ink to match the color of the legends, while the second coat, designed to absorb light, should be black or gray. Finally, apply the surface color as the last coat of ink.

Laser Etching Process:

After the production of basic compression transparent elastomer rubber keypads, they undergo a laser etching process.

The keypads are sprayed with an opaque coating, with the first coating matching the legend color and the second coating matching the surface color.

The keypads are then placed into a laser cutter machine for precise etching of the desired characters, patterns, or designs onto the surface.

This process ensures that the custom laser-etched keyboards are accurately designed and produced according to the desired specifications.
